(Recommended) Roamless eSIM: Low-Data Mode
If you want to make sure your device does not use your Roamless eSIM for background tasks (like app or OS updates), please change your Roamless eSIM settings to "Low Data Mode" to avoid unexpected balance consumption. Low Data Mode has no impact on data connectivity or speed when you're using your device.
Go to iPhone Settings -> Cellular/Mobile -> scroll down to SIMs section
Click on the Roamless eSIM
Click on Data Mode
Select Low Data Mode
Final Note:
As long as you have your Primary SIM's 'Data Roaming' OFF you will not be charged for data roaming.
However, your operator may still charge you if you make/take calls on your regular phone number, or send SMS. Receiving SMS is always free (even when you're abroad). If you want to make sure you avoid roaming charges on calls and SMS as well, you can turn OFF your Primary SIM when traveling abroad. But please note: with your Primary SIM off, you won't be able to receive SMS.
