  3. For iMessage & Facetime, select Primary and click "Continue" (this is critical)

  4. For Cellular/Mobile Data, select Primary and turn ON "Allow Data Switching" then click "Continue"

Please note the label assigned to your new eSIM by iOS.
It will likely be labeled Personal / Travel / Secondary / Business or Cellular Data.

You will need it in the next eSIM Settings section.

Step2: eSIM Settings

For this second part of settings configuration, you need to go to your iPhone Settings.

Turn Data Roaming ON for your Roamless eSIM

  1. Go to iPhone Settings -> Cellular/Mobile -> scroll down to SIMs section

  2. Click on the Roamless eSIM
(It is often labeled Personal, Secondary, Travel, Business or Cellular Data. When you click into it, at the top you will see BICS or Proximus. That's the Roamless eSIM)

  3. Turn 'Data Roaming' ON for your Roamless eSIM (our eSIM works globally, so it needs data roaming ON)

Turn Data Roaming OFF for your Primary SIM

  1. Then go back to the previous screen and click on your Primary SIM (the one with your phone number under it)

  2. Turn 'Data Roaming' OFF for your Primary SIM (this will stop data roaming charges while abroad)

Configure Cellular/Mobile Data Settings

  1. Then go back to the previous screen -> Scroll up -> Click on Cellular/Mobile Data

  2. If you want Roamless to automatically take over when you're abroad for cellular/mobile data:
    - S‍elect Primary AND
    - Turn ON 'Allow Data Switching'

  3. If you want to manually select when to use Roamless eSIM for cellular/mobile data:
    - Select Roamless eSIM when you travel abroad
    - Select your Primary SIM when you return home

(Recommended) Roamless eSIM: Low-Data Mode

If you want to make sure your device does not use your Roamless eSIM for background tasks (like app or OS updates), please change your Roamless eSIM settings to "Low Data Mode" to avoid unexpected balance consumption. Low Data Mode has no impact on data connectivity or speed when you're using your device.

  1. Go to iPhone Settings -> Cellular/Mobile -> scroll down to SIMs section

  2. Click on the Roamless eSIM

  3. Click on Data Mode

  4. Select Low Data Mode

Final Note:

  • As long as you have your Primary SIM's 'Data Roaming' OFF you will not be charged for data roaming.

  • However, your operator may still charge you if you make/take calls on your regular phone number, or send SMS. Receiving SMS is always free (even when you're abroad). If you want to make sure you avoid roaming charges on calls and SMS as well, you can turn OFF your Primary SIM when traveling abroad. But please note: with your Primary SIM off, you won't be able to receive SMS.
